Canine Myotherapy & Massage Overview
Canine Myotherapy & Massage is a unique and highly specialised manual therapy and exercise management. It uses appropriate, effective and targeted specialised massage techniques, inc Fascial Manipulation, utilising non invasive tools such as Kiniseo Tape, Laser Therapy, PEMF Therapy and exercise management to manage the chronic muscular pain and inflammation that is caused from many different conditions that are so common in a dogs life. All the techniques use a hands-on approach allowing the therapist to explore the muscles for areas of tightness, spasm or soreness.
Canine Myotherapy & Massage is a complementary therapy that covers the whole body relieving muscle tightness and compensatory tension, and therefore allowing the dog to function at his optimum.
The treatment works closely with the dogs natural instincts to encourage relaxation and the natural healing response. I offer exercise management ideas as well as tailored work plans to ensure long lasting results and successful rehabilitation.
How will my dog benefit?
Muscular issues can manifest themselves in many different ways and muscle pain in dogs is often underestimated and difficult to diagnose.
Muscular pain causes stresses on the bodys structures that have a negative effect on how the dog functions physically and psychologically.
Injury within the muscle fibre can cause inappropriate scarring, placing added tension and stress over the joints they articulate. By identifying then treating effected muscles and muscle groups, joint function can be improved and an optimum range of movement for each situation can be achieved. This results in improved mobility, performance and a reduction in pain perception therefore reducing stress and allied symptoms.
Benefits can include:
"Canine Myotherapy & Massage are not a substitute for veterinary attention. All work carried out is in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, which states that veterinary consent must be approved before working on any animal."
To ensure full benefits from your dogs massage, you will be asked at your first session to give relevant information about your dogs health, past and present. You will be asked about your dogs day-to-day care and exercise regime and to discuss any presenting issues.
The dog will be subject to dynamic and static assessment all ensuring that the therapist can tailor a treatment which is ideally suited to your dog's specific needs.
Treatments can be a one off but ideally repeated on a maintenance basis, two weekly, monthly or bi-monthly. Remedial treatments should be carried out once a week for up to four visits. Canine Myotherapy is a stand-alone massage therapy but also complements osteopathic or chiropractic treatments. All consultations with Whole Healing are by appointment only in the comfort of your own home or in a professional, friendly clinic.
